Second global survey, search for natural resources affect traditional communities
Country's position in the ranking would be explained by the abundance of infrastructure projects related to the environment
RIO - Mineral exploration, deforestation and competition for land and water are among the biggest reasons of environmental conflicts in the world, according to an international survey released recently by NGOs Ejolt (Environmental Justice Organizations, Liabilities and Trade) and coordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The researchers identified 945 cases in 78 countries. Tied with Nigeria, Brazil was third in the ranking with 58 cases, only behind India (112) and Colombia (77).
